HM Lord-Lieutenant of East Sussex

Andrew Blackman was appointed by The Queen to be Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for East Sussex on the 18th August 2021.

Andrew Blackman is a former art dealer who has previously served as High Sheriff. He was an Ambassador for the Sussex Community Foundation; a committee member of the Order of St Richard, which recognises the contribution of lay people in the service of the church; a former Chair of the Friends of Hastings Country Park; and a former trustee of the Peasmarsh Chamber Music Festival. He has also sat on the Board of Appeals for St Michael’s Hospice and the Conquest Hospital.

Mr Blackman lives in Fairlight, near Hastings, with his husband Richard Smith.

With too many ideas and not enough time, our mentor was very helpful in breaking these down to manageable tasks, to then be better able to prioritise. A great way to speak openly to someone completely independent in order to discuss ideas, best practice, and priorities to maximise the potential for development of your organisation.

Meeting with a mentor provides focus and motivation and enables you to see what you are trying to achieve from a different perspective. It can help you refocus or grow and upscale so would be of benefit to anyone looking for a boost.

A charity mentor brings an outside eye into your organisation. With that comes huge experience and knowledge and although this may not necessarily be in the field of work your charity inhabits, those skills and that knowledge can be transferred and used in many different and positive ways for your charity. It is so useful to have someone that is not personally invested and is able to offer a different and objective perspective.

Charity Mentors is an excellent programme that matches charity employees with the mentoring expertise to help develop both personal potential and the potential of the organisation. Through the mentoring process professional challenges, we worked through, confidence built, and skills enhanced.
