MSVA’s mission is to develop, support, and promote charities and voluntary organisations in Mid Sussex for the benefit of the whole community

As an independent charity, MSVA were set up to work across Mid Sussex to bring together and help local voluntary organisations and community groups. They do this by giving advice, information and support. They share news, legislative changes and other useful knowledge and ideas to which some smaller groups might not normally have access.

They champion the role of local voluntary and community groups and ensure their voice is heard. This has been especially important during lockdown.

With too many ideas and not enough time, our mentor was very helpful in breaking these down to manageable tasks, to then be better able to prioritise. A great way to speak openly to someone completely independent in order to discuss ideas, best practice, and priorities to maximise the potential for development of your organisation.

CM gives you and your organisation the opportunity to develop and improve. With just a few meetings you can select the priorities with your mentor, discuss ideas, strategy, and operation. Meeting with a mentor provides focus and motivation and enables you to see what you are trying to achieve from a different perspective. It can help you refocus or grow and upscale so would be of benefit to anyone looking for a boost.

A charity mentor brings an outside eye into your organisation. With that comes huge experience and knowledge and although this may not necessarily be in the field of work your charity inhabits, those skills and that knowledge can be transferred and used in many different and positive ways for your charity. It is so useful to have someone that is not personally invested and is able to offer a different and objective perspective.

Charity Mentors is an excellent programme that matches charity employees with the mentoring expertise to help develop both personal potential and the potential of the organisation. Through the mentoring process professional challenges, we worked through, confidence built, and skills enhanced. The opportunity for constructive change is great and the benefits to the work of the charity far-reaching.
